Teaching Ministry

Focus of Teaching Ministry

There is a growing spiritual hunger among devoted Christians for a deeper relationship with God and for practical guidance on how to be led by the Holy Spirit from moment to moment, day by day. Many people want to experience God more powerfully as they grapple with their purpose in life. Many are seeking greater meaning personally, and guidance for a host of significant relational, family, and social issues. Nearly everyone wishes they had more spiritual resources to work through conflicts and challenging issues in their life.

In my teaching ministry, I address these spiritual and personal longings from a solid biblical base and extensive personal reflection and experience. I draw on helpful spiritual practices, academic knowledge and research, and pastoral and nonprofit leadership experience. A grounding piece for all of my teaching is my own ongoing journey to know, love and serve God more fully, and my commitment to follow and serve Jesus Christ.

Seminars, Workshops and Classes

In highly interactive, informative, and practical sessions, my teaching focuses on spiritual renewal and effective spiritual leadership. I offer one to five day seminars and workshops that are well grounded in biblical principles and proven leadership practices, building on the material found in The Spirit-Led Leader: Nine Leadership Practices and Soul Principles (Alban, 2005) and One Step at a Time: A Pilgrim’s Guide to Spirit-Led Living (Alban, 2008).Tim Teaching

Teaching Topics include the following

  • The Spirit-Led Leader
  • Spirit-Led Living—The Way Forward
  • Growing Personally and Spiritually—A Way of Life
  • Talking about Jesus in a Pluralistic World
  • New Testament Theology
  • Numerous other Bible and Topical Studies

No matter what the specific topic, I utilize a variety of pedagogical tools and methods to engage participants so that their learning can be deeply personal, relevant, and usable. My prayer is always that students and participants will experience God in my classes and seminars in life-affirming and life-changing ways. I seek to help others keep moving forward on their own personal spiritual journey as they seek to fulfill their God-given dreams and purpose in life.

Spiritual and Biblical Grounding

My teaching ministry is grounded in my own relationship with God, my spiritual gifts of teaching, wisdom and encouragement, and the indispensable, unique testimony and teaching of the Bible. From the biblical text, we find powerful testimony and teaching on how God is present in the world and works in human lives. We also find unparalleled guidance on how we may enjoy a deep relationship with God and can experience a full and fruitful life of meaningful relationships, work and service. We also are introduced to God as Loving Creator, Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, and the Holy Spirit as the divine presence within us.
